Student's graduation is milestone for the PhD@CQT programme

It was a proud moment when Arun collected his doctoral degree on 11 July — and not just for him and his family. Dr Arun (pictured right, in the front row centre) is the first researcher to graduate from CQT's PhD programme. The programme was established in August 2008.

Arun successfully defended his thesis "Hybrid Quantum Computation" in January. PhD@CQT student Elisabeth Rieper, whose project was supervised by Vlatko Vedral, has also since sucessfully defended her thesis "Quantum Coherence in Biological System". She is now working in Germany and will return to Singapore next year to collect her degree. Arun is continuing his research at CQT in the group of his PhD supervisor Berge Englert.

CQT currently has more than 50 students working towards graduate degrees in quantum technologies, a handful more of whom should graduate in 2013.
