Quantum Communication & Security

Protection of data is a global concern. CQT has expertise in both quantum key distribution (QKD) and post-quantum cryptography, two future-ready approaches to secure communication. We are working on a few approaches to sending quantum keys via fibre and satellite, to offer encryption resistant to all computational hacks. We also explore how to make mathematical cryptography schemes safe against future quantum computers. CQT also hosts a team developing Singapore's National Quantum-Safe Network.

Quantum Processors, Computation & Simulation

The promise that quantum computers can tackle problems beyond the reach of today’s most powerful supercomputers is driving research worldwide in universities and businesses. At CQT, we work on a broad array of research problems in quantum computing and simulation. Our team includes computer scientists designing quantum algorithms, theorists working on approaches to error correction and experimentalists developing quantum hardware. CQT is also a founding member of Singapore's National Quantum Computing Hub.

Quantum Sensing & Metrology

With exquisite control over single atoms and photons, we aim to build measurement tools of unprecedented precision for magnetic fields, gravity and time. Society has already benefited from a first wave of quantum technologies such as the atomic clock and magnetic resonance imaging. Scientists see potential to improve measurement tools and unlock new applications thanks to modern experimental techniques.

Advanced Instruments

To push the boundaries of technology, researchers in CQT labs design and build their own instruments, from electronic controllers to photon detectors. Developing integrated chips for applications in quantum communication and computing also takes specialised skills and equipment, pursued through partnership with industry and a local Quantum Foundry managed by CQT Principal Investigators.
