CQT congratulates first PhD@CQT student to defend thesis

At 5pm on Wednesday 11 January, CQT PhD student Arun faced a defence of his thesis "Hybrid Quantum Computation". The picture of Arun to the right, taken just after, makes clear the outcome.

CQT congratulates Arun on becoming the first PhD student under the PhD@CQT programme to complete their studies. Arun was supervised by Berge Englert, CQT Principal Investigator and NUS Professor.

Subject to the approval of the University's Board of Graduate Studies, Arun will receive his doctorate, and with it the right to call himself Dr Arun, later this year. He enrolled as an NUS graduate student in 2007, before CQT was established, joining the PhD@CQT programme after it launched in August 2008.

CQT now has some 40 students from all over the world working towards graduate degrees in the exciting and interdisciplinary field of quantum technologies. Principal Investigators at CQT also supervise some students funded by other sources, such as the NUS Faculty of Science or NUS Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering.
